City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate - Beauty Therapy

This course is designed to cover all aspects of beauty therapy.  You are required to complete 8 units including working in beauty therapy, maintaining health and safety in the salon, consultation and advising clients on treatments and the relevant anatomy and physiology units.  You will also cover manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing and eyelash and eyebrow treatments.
The course is run 3 days per week for a period of 11 weeks.

City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate - Beauty Consultancy

This course covers different aspects of beauty. You are required to complete 9 units including working in beauty therapy, maintaining health and safety in the salon, consultation and advising clients on treatments and the relevant anatomy and physiology units.  You will also cover manicures, pedicures, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, skincare advice and make-up, and promoting products and services to clients.
The course is run 3 days per week for a period of 11 weeks.

City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate - Nail Technology

This course covers all aspects of Nails.  You are required to complete 10 units covering working in the nail industry, maintaining health and safety in the salon, consultation and advising clients on treatments and the relevant anatomy and physiology units.  You will also cover manicures, pedicures, extend and maintaining nails using acrylic, fibreglass and UV gel, nail art, reception duties and monitoring stock levels.
The course is run 3 days per week for a period of 9 weeks.

Individual Units

It is also possible to study individual units, which could add to your existing skills or will give you an insight into the beauty industry.  If you choose to take an individual unit, you will also have to cover the standard units of working in the industry, consultation and advising clients of treatments and health and safety, if you have not already studied these.  Depending on the course, the individual units run for approximately 3, 5 or 9 days.

Additional Information
All courses include the following:  Safety & Hygiene in the workplace, Client consultation and record keeping , Contra-indications to the treatment, Anatomy & Physiology, Professional ethics, Preparation of the client, Products and Equipment and Client Aftercare.
 
Setting Up Your Own Business
During this course you will be shown step by step what you need to do in order to open your own salon.  You will be told of the relevant government procedures which you are required to hold and the legislations which you have to comply with.  You will be given a list of contact numbers which will help you with relevant information from supplying fire extinguishers, accountants, PAYE and tax returns, to salon and public liability insurance.
 
You will be given all this information from someone who has opened a chain of salons and understands all the procedures you will need to follow, ensuring you are able to do this as efficiently and effectively as possible so that you will save time and money.
